Choosing the Perfect Field for your Tipi Wedding

Choosing the right venue for your tipi wedding is key to bringing your vision to life. Whether you have a private field, garden, or are considering a venue, there are some important factors to keep in mind when planning your outdoor celebration. Here’s what you need to know about choosing the perfect space for your tipi wedding.

Tipi Size and Space Requirements

Each of our tipis is 10.3 meters in diameter, so if you’re planning a two-tipi setup, you’ll need at least 20 x 10 meters of space for the tipis alone. On top of this, remember to factor in additional space for other suppliers like your bar, caterers, and seating areas for guests to socialise.

Distance and Location

We’re based on the Nottinghamshire-Leicestershire border, and we typically cover areas such as Northamptonshire, Derbyshire, Cambridgeshire, and beyond. We’re happy to travel up to 2–2.5 hours from our HQ, so if you have your hearts set on having us as your tipi supplier, make sure to do a little distance check before securing your date.  We love discovering new venues, and if you’d like to know our availability before you start viewing locations, just reach out!

Vehicle Access

We come equipped with a long wheelbase van, a double cab pickup truck, and a trailer with poles that are over 8 meters long. This means we ideally need good vehicle access to your venue to get the tipi’s into place. If your venue or field has no direct access, don’t worry—we just need to get as close as possible to unload the equipment. Most of our equipment fits through a standard garden gate, but the closer we can get to the site, the smoother the setup will be.

Length of Hire and Flexibility

At Tipi Wedding Co, we always aim to give you a full day on either side of your wedding day to decorate and clear out. This allows you to really create your dream wedding weekend, giving you time to settle in and make the space your own. If you’re choosing a venue, double-check how long you have access to the site before finalising your booking. We want to ensure you have enough time to make the most of your tipi setup!

Power and Toilets

When looking at venues, be sure to check if they include power and toilets in the hire fee! If not, we have some recommended companies ready to go for luxury loos and generators alike. If you’re planning a back garden wedding, we may even be able to power the tipi lighting directly from the house to save on additional costs. We can chat over your requirements together once you have a better idea on what your venue provides to make sure all bases are covered.

Use Our Floor Planning Tool

To help you visualise how the tipis will fit in your venue or field, we have an amazing floor planning tool on our website. Simply enter your venue’s postcode, and you can drag and drop your chosen number of tipis onto the space to see how they fit. You can even plan the layout with furniture, decor, and everything in between—it’s a fun and helpful way to get your planning started!

Site Visit and Logistics

Once your booking is confirmed, Kyle will then be arranging a site visit with you to check out your field in person! This is the perfect time to answer any key questions you may have, chat logistics, locations and logistics between now and build day. We love meeting with you and hearing all about your ideas and how we can help make them happen.
